What Is CB Passive Income 4.0 About?

CB Passive Income 4.0 is an Email Marketing product by Patric Chan.

The “CB” in the name refers to ClickBank as the products you will be promoting through your email marketing campaigns are ClickBank products.

CB Passive Income is a licenced product so you are actually purchasing a license in order to use the software.

The official name for the product is “CB Passive Income License program”

The product has been through many iterations.  The first version launch of CB Passive Income was in August 2013.

This version teaches you how to use their own squeeze page templates to generate email leads using Social media marketing.

CB Passive Income 4.0 Testimony

At the beginning of the Sales Video pitch, there is a testimony about how great the CB Passive 4.0 system is.  This testimony comes from Russell Brunson, ClickFunnels CEO.

You can watch the testimonial below.

You may have heard of Russell Brunson and believe that if he endorses CB Passive Income, then it must be good.  But is it?

Many of these top Internet/Online gurus collaborate with each other to provide a glossy picture of their service or product for a favour.

How Does CB Passive Income 4.0 Work?

It is essentially an email marketing campaign where you drive traffic to a squeeze page that has free giveaways.

Once the subscribers are in the system, they are added to an email list and promotional product offers are sent via emails for them to purchase.

Each time an email is sent from the CB Passive Income system to the subscriber list, it’ll have your affiliate link to the product that’s being promoted so that when a lead clicks on the link, you earn a commission.

However, there is a slight twist to this setup in that you won’t be promoting the products – Patric will be doing this on your behalf.  This is unlike the conventional email marketing campaigns that an Internet Marketer will do – they or members of their team will send out the emails.

Your main role is to drive traffic to the website.

Is CB Passive Income Easy as 1,2,3?

The Sales video lists the 3 steps you need to take to make money using the system.

On sign up, you do the following 3 steps.

Step 1 – Fill in your details
Step 2 – Send traffic to your ‘secret webpage’
Step 3 – Collect commission

By filling in your details, your own personal ‘Secret webpage’ is created.  This is your squeeze page. It is then your job to send traffic to this page and collect the commission.

Sounds simple eh?

However, as an Internet Marketer, I know that step 2 – drive traffic to a website is the hardest part of any email marketing campaign that takes time and effort.

It is also fundamental to ANY online business.  Without traffic to your website, don’t expect to make any sales.

If you’re a beginner and you don’t have much experience in email marketing and driving traffic to a website, you will be in for a big surprise.

The training provided isn’t good enough to give you the nuts and bolts of what you need to be successful with this model.

I highly recommend that you start with my #1 recommended training for beginners here.

To drive traffic to your secret webpage, you will need to use SEO techniques such as keywords.

Make your first $ online

You will have to hope that Patric has taken on-page SEO into consideration as you won’t have access to change the templates ‘to your liking’ to attract potential customers as these are ‘done for you’ templates.

Other than using keywords to drive traffic to your webpage, the only other low-cost option is for you to use social media which some training material is provided for your use.

The problem is that with such a system as CB Passive Income, there are already thousands of people promoting the exact same offers on social media and nobody clicks those links.  They see these offers as spam.

You can use paid traffic but you will need to fork out more money on top of the cost of this product.  Paid traffic is always a gamble and many people have lost huge amounts of money for little ROI.   If you’re new to internet marketing, I would not advise you to take this route.

How Effective is CB Passive Income 4.0?

OK, so your subscribers sign up through your own personalised page – so they ‘know’ you.

But the emails come from Patric.

They won’t know who ‘Patric’ is and will probably just delete his emails without even opening them.

How many spam emails do you receive?

I’ve lost count on how many I receive each day and when I do, I send them to the Spam folder.

This system ‘might’ be more effective and lucrative if Patric sends Informative emails first to gain trust from the leads but does the’ system’ know what squeeze page the lead came from to send out targeted emails?

Email marketing can be very attractive if you get it right however, it takes a lot of hard work and having a done for you system that you don’t have access to the setup, makes it impossible for you to know how it is performing so that you can adjust things.

Patric is the only one that has access to this.

Basically, you are putting your trust in a system that you don’t know how it’s been set up with the hope that it will make you earn some money.

That’s a huge risk.

CB Passive Income Upsells

I watched the Sales Video and Patric makes out that you will get an incredible, money-making life-changing product in CB Passive Income.

However, like all these products that promise you the world, it is only when you sign up that you are in for a surprise.

Yes.  The upsells.

Without them, don’t expect to make the kind of money that the Sales Video says you can make – you will need to purchase one of the upsells to automate your list building.

This is so misleading and you will be encouraged to buy these additional products to make the system work for you.

In other words, YOU will be handing over unnecessary money to Patric Chan.

No mention is made of these additional products in the Sales Video.

Not only is this misleading, it is downright deceitful.

Most product pitches lure you into buying the product at a relatively low fee and based on the hype and how incredible the product is, you sign up with the hope of earning the amount of money they say you can earn.

Pros

  •  The affiliate program pays 50% on all sales.
  • 60 days money back guarantee.
  • Realistic testimonies – 42 subscribers and 2 Commission sales.
  • Patric Chan does mention that the system isn’t meant to create you instant cash – that it’s not a get-rich-quick scheme.
  • Some great training on how to make ads and other opt-in forms that are integrated into Facebook.

Cons

  • To make this work, you need to have a  huge following on the Social Media platforms.
  • Google and the other search engines will penalise you for duplicate content – the same squeeze pages are used by all members.
  • You can lose a lot of money on paid advertising.
  • Not beginner friendly – no direction on how to drive traffic to your site.
  • Not suitable for an experienced marketer as you can do your own product promotions without CB Passive Income.
  • Everyone is using the same email templates so it can easily be flagged as spam.
  • Patric Chan is the admin for YOUR list.  He can use this for his own benefit.  What if you decide to leave CB Passive Income.  Will you still have access to your list of subscribers?
  • You need to purchase the upsell to automate your list building.
  • Ongoing promoting of products to the same list without some information now and again is unethical – your subscribers will either unsubscribe or ignore your emails.

Conclusion

CB Passive Income is definitely a legit program as it does provide you with ways to make money online.

However, it is an investment model so nothing belongs to you.  You are actually investing in Patric Chan’s software.

Why not invest in yourself?  That’s the smart thing to do.

You’re more than capable of making money on your own if you had the right level of training.

Check out my article here on how you can stop wasting your time, energy and money investing in other peoples products and invest in yourself.

  1. Thanks for the comprehensive review Jackie!

Oh this has got an endorsement from Russell Brunson. Man is he good at what he does and I love listening to his insights about internet marketing.

But im not a great fan of the way he markets. It definitely works but I just don’t feel comfortable with the sneaky upsells. So sounds like this is a product that follows that sneaky method and involves paying for traffic.

So would it be fair to say that if you don’t have a decent budget this wont work for you?

    • Hi SJ,

      Thanks for your comment.

There is a lot of collaboration between the top internet guys endorsing each others products or services with the ultimate aim of making them great sellers.

Russell Brunson is a great guy but that doesn’t mean that what he’s giving his thumbs up to is great.

CB Passive Income has upsells that you will need to purchase in order to make the kind of money that Patric says it can make you.

The one-time sign up fee of $97 seems great but what you need to ask yourself  is “Am I getting ALL the tools to be effective with the product?”  In this case you don’t so it will not work unless you have the budget to cover the upsells and anything else they might surprise you with.

      Hope this helps.

      All the best.

  2. Thanks for this very informative review of CB Passive. It is amazing to me how these people keep getting away with this stuff. Kinda like MLM’s, most do not make much money but even making a little money somehow makes them legitimate. At the first sign of an upsell, there should be a warning signal that flashes; “proceed at your own risk.” Also, I ventured off on some of your links and they are also leading to very informative information about programs to avoid. I will take heed.

    • Hi Dashnow,

      Thanks for your comment.

In the eyes of the product owners, if you make ANY money, then the product is legit – they also use disclaimers to cover themselves.

This is why it’s important for consumers to do their due diligence and why websites like mine carry out product research to help them make the right decision before making a purchase as most people only look at the sign-up fee and don’t carry out further research to see if there will be any additional products that they will need to purchase.

Not all product owners will tell you about their upsells until you’ve bought the product.  By then, it’s too late as they already have your money.

Yes you can probably call it quits, but you would have invested a lot of time and money into getting so far only to be hit with the upsell.

I’m glad my review was of help to you.

      Wishing you success.
